Before your doctor prescribes this medication to you, you first need to disclose your full medical history. If you have suffered from any illness in the near past then discuss the same. Also, let your doctor know about all the medications, pills and supplements that you are taking.  This will help you avoid any adverse side effects or drug interactions.

If you are pregnant or have any plans for pregnancy in the near future then you should discuss this as well with your doctor. It is still unknown whether this medicine is harmful to the unborn baby, but most physicians believe that Flovent may affect the fetus and thus it is better to find another viable option.

If you are a nursing mother take the medication only when your doctor prescribes it to you. This is because the medication may enter into the blood stream and cause harm to the feeding baby.

Normally, the medication should be avoided as a course of medication for children less than 4 years of age.

If this drug is used for a long duration of time, it may lead to disorders like osteoporosis. When this medication is required to be taken for a longer duration, the physician must also prescribe calcium tablets to the patient, which he/she should take daily.

It is important to take all the doses properly as prescribed by the doctor. An overdose is harmful. If you fear you have overdosed, you should contact your doctor immediately. With an overdose of Flovent there can be certain fatal effects. These include skin thinning, impotence, bruising, and changes in location of fat in the body. Keep this in mind when you order Flovent with or with out prescription.

While using this medication, avoid getting near sick people, because there are more chances for you to catch infections under such circumstances. If you get exposed to the disorders like chicken pox or measles, ask your doctor to give you precautionary or preventive treatment.

Keep this medication out of reach of small children.

This drug can be taken with or without food. You should inhale the medication orally. When you are using this medication for the very first time you should get any questions you have answered by your doctor.

You should take it as per your doctor’s advice. If he says that you should take it once or twice a day, you should follow suit. Also, read the directions as mentioned in the leaflet the medication.

Here’s how you should use Flovent:

Remove the inhaler cap
Exhale
Now, spray your dosage
Inhale the entire dose gradually

After this is done, rinse your mouth so that you can avoid thrush or mouth thrush

It is worth noting that you should not take Flovent when you get an asthma attack, as it is not safe during an asthma attack. At that time you may need special asthma inhaler.

The generic Flovent is known as Fluticasone.

If, apart from this, you come across something serious then you should immediately report it to your doctor. Some people may have severe side effects, which include: high fever, severe abdominal discomfort, white patches in mouth, nausea, problems in urine passage, vomits, breathing problems, congestion in lungs, and red eyes.
